Serrated steel grating is a non-slip grating component formed by pressing one or both sides of load-bearing flat bars into continuous serrated edges, then welded by high-pressure resistance welding on the basis of ordinary plain steel grating.

Its core advantages are outstanding anti-slip performance + open and durable structure. It retains the core features of ordinary steel grating – ventilation, drainage, high load capacity and excellent corrosion resistance – while greatly increasing the friction coefficient through the serrated structure, effectively preventing slips in wet, oily, sloped and other high-risk conditions. It is the preferred load-bearing paving material for slippery and hazardous environments.

The product can be flexibly made of carbon steel or stainless steel, adopts welded structure, and supports customization of dimensions, mesh spacing and serration specifications. It is widely used in industrial, municipal, port and other scenarios with strict anti-slip requirements, balancing practicality and safety.

Core Structure & Product Types

(I) Core Structure Composition

  1. Load-bearing flat bar (key anti-slip component):

Made of Q235 carbon steel or 304/316 stainless steel, with continuous serrations pressed on one or both sides (tooth height 1.5–2.5mm, ≥5 teeth per 100mm). Uniform serrations ensure stable anti-slip performance.

  2. Cross bar:

Twisted square bars (or flat bars) intersect with serrated flat bars at 90° and are firmly fusion-welded by high-pressure resistance welding to form an open mesh, ensuring rigidity, ventilation and drainage.

  3. Auxiliary structure:

Angle steel frames, middle reinforcing ribs, mounting holes and lifting lugs can be added to improve structural stability and installation convenience.

  4. Anti-corrosion treatment:

Overall hot-dip galvanizing (mainstream), electro-galvanizing, spray painting or natural stainless steel finish. Serrated areas are fully protected to avoid corrosion impairing slip resistance.

(II) Common Product Types

  • Single-sided serrated steel grating:

  • Serrations on only one side of load-bearing flat bars. Cost-effective for general slippery areas such as workshop walkways and slightly damp platforms.

  • Double-sided serrated steel grating:

Serrations on both sides for higher friction and stronger slip resistance, ideal for slopes, elevated platforms, heavily oily or wet environments (chemical plants, ports).

  • Serrated stair tread grating:

Used for T1, T2 and other stair tread series with serrated flat bars as tread surface, equipped with side plates or front plates for stairs and ladders.

  • Framed serrated steel grating:

Perimeter welded with angle steel or flat steel frame for high dimensional stability and deformation resistance, suitable for trench covers, equipment covers.

  • Custom serrated steel grating:

Custom serration, flat bar size and mesh spacing for special anti-slip, heavy-duty or irregular installation spaces.

Production Process

  1. Raw material processing:

Cut Q235 or stainless steel flat bars and press single/double-sided serrations with specialized equipment to ensure uniform tooth height and spacing, burr-free edges.

  2. Panel forming:

Assemble serrated flat bars and twisted square bars at preset spacing; fusion-weld by high-pressure resistance welding to avoid incomplete, missing or detached welding.

  3. Auxiliary processing:

Add frames, reinforcing ribs, mounting holes and lugs as required; grind welds and serration edges for safe use.

  4. Anti-corrosion treatment:

Overall hot-dip galvanizing (zinc layer ≥85μm), spray painting or stainless steel polishing to ensure full corrosion protection on serrations.

  5. Finished product inspection:

Verify dimensions, mesh spacing, serration specs, welding strength, anti-slip and anti-corrosion performance. Qualified products are delivered.

Core Advantages

  • Excellent anti-slip performance:

Serrated structure raises friction coefficient to ≥0.6 (dry) and ≥0.45 (wet), effectively preventing slips in wet, oily and sloped areas.

  • Open and durable:

Maintains open grating structure for fast drainage, ventilation and heat dissipation; easy to clean, high load capacity, impact resistance, service life equal to ordinary grating.

  • Superior corrosion resistance:

Hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel construction resists acid, alkali, rain, salt spray and humidity. Fully protected serrations enable long service in corrosive environments.

  • Safe and widely applicable:

Deburred serrations avoid cuts; stable anti-slip performance eliminates need for extra mats.

  • Flexible & cost-effective:

Customizable serration, flat bar size, mesh and material; single/double-sided options balance performance and cost.

  • Easy installation & low maintenance:

Supports welding or clip fixing; pre-drilled holes enable fast installation. Only regular cleaning and weld inspection required.
