Open steel grating is an open-type load-bearing grid component manufactured by high-pressure resistance welding, using flat bars as load-bearing members and twisted square bars as cross bars.
Its core feature is open mesh without any closed surface layer, which maximizes ventilation, drainage and heat dissipation. Meanwhile, it is lightweight, high-strength, corrosion-resistant, durable and easy to install.
Unlike the closed structure of composite steel grating, open steel grating emphasizes high permeability and efficiency, enabling rapid drainage of water and dust as well as free air circulation.
It is widely used in applications with strict requirements for ventilation and drainage, serving as a basic and practical load-bearing paving material in industrial, municipal and construction fields.
The product supports flexible selection of plain or serrated flat bars, carbon steel or stainless steel materials, and customizable welded structures. Dimensions, mesh openings and thickness can all be adjusted to meet specific demands, balancing practicality and economy for various general and special basic applications.
Load-bearing flat bars
Made of Q235 carbon steel or 304/316 stainless steel, available in plain type (general-purpose) and serrated type (anti-slip). As the main load-bearing component, they determine the overall load capacity.
Cross bars
Made of twisted square bars (or flat bars), intersecting vertically with load-bearing flat bars at 90° and firmly joined by high-pressure resistance welding to form open meshes and enhance overall rigidity.
Auxiliary structures
Angle steel frames, intermediate stiffeners, pre-drilled mounting holes and mounting lugs can be added as required to improve structural stability and installation convenience.
Anti-corrosion treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing (mainstream process), electro-galvanizing, paint coating or natural stainless steel finish is applied to improve overall rust and corrosion resistance for different environments.
Plain Open Steel Grating
Equipped with plain load-bearing flat bars, featuring open meshes, simple structure and high cost-performance ratio. Suitable for general applications without special anti-slip requirements, such as ordinary platforms, walkways and trench covers.
Serrated Open Steel Grating
Continuous serrations pressed on one side of load-bearing flat bars, maintaining high permeability while greatly improving anti-slip performance. Ideal for wet, oily, sloped and slippery environments such as chemical platforms and stair treads.
Framed Open Steel Grating
Fitted with a peripheral angle steel or flat steel frame, offering high dimensional accuracy and strong deformation resistance. Suitable for scenarios requiring precise installation such as equipment covers and municipal trench covers.
Custom Open Steel Grating
Customized mesh sizes, overall dimensions and additional stiffeners are available to meet heavy-duty and special installation requirements, such as heavy equipment maintenance platforms.
Raw material processing
Load-bearing flat bars and twisted square bars are cut to specified dimensions. For serrated products, uniform serrations are pressed with dimensional tolerance controlled within ±1mm.
Weld forming
Components are arranged at preset mesh spacing and joined by high-pressure resistance welding to ensure firm fusion free of incomplete welding or missing welds.
Auxiliary machining
Frames and stiffeners are welded as required; mounting holes and lugs are pre-drilled. Welded areas are ground and deburred for smooth edges.
Anti-corrosion treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing (coating thickness ≥ 85μm), painting or stainless steel polishing is applied to ensure qualified corrosion resistance and extended service life.
Finished product inspection
Dimensions, mesh spacing, welding strength, load performance and anti-corrosion effect are strictly inspected to meet standards and customer requirements before packaging and delivery.
Highly open & efficient ventilation and drainage
Fully open meshes enable fast drainage and sludge removal without standing water. Smooth air flow supports effective heat dissipation, suitable for machine rooms, high-temperature workshops and other ventilation-critical areas.
Lightweight yet strong & stable structure
Lighter than closed plates but with high strength and even stress distribution. Excellent load-bearing and impact resistance meet the demands of pedestrian traffic, light equipment rolling and maintenance access.
Anti-slip optional for safety & reliability
Serrated flat bars provide high friction coefficient: ≥ 0.6 in dry conditions and ≥ 0.45 in wet conditions, effectively preventing slips in wet and oily environments while maintaining permeability.
Corrosion-resistant & durable with low maintenance
Hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel construction offers excellent resistance to acid, rain, salt spray and moisture, supporting long service life outdoors, in chemical plants and coastal areas with little maintenance.
Easy to clean & convenient maintenance
Open meshes allow dust and debris to fall naturally or be cleaned easily without complicated procedures. Only regular inspection of welds and fasteners is required, resulting in low maintenance costs.
