Special-shaped steel grating, as opposed to standard rectangular or square steel grating, is a non-standard steel grating custom-processed through cutting, bending, welding (or interlocking) according to special requirements such as on-site installation space, equipment layout, and structural dimensions. Its core advantage is "customization on demand and precise adaptation", which can perfectly fit irregular areas and solve the installation problems that standard steel grating cannot adapt to. At the same time, it retains the core characteristics of steel grating, such as ventilation and drainage, load-bearing durability, corrosion resistance and slip resistance, and is widely used in various special-shaped structural scenarios.

Its core advantage is "customization on demand and precise adaptation", which can perfectly fit irregular areas and solve the installation problems that standard steel grating cannot adapt to. At the same time, it retains the core characteristics of steel grating, such as ventilation and drainage, load-bearing durability, corrosion resistance and slip resistance, and is widely used in various special-shaped structural scenarios.

Combined with the usage scenario, the product can flexibly adopt welded or interlocked structures, and can be optionally equipped with plain/serrated flat bars and carbon steel/stainless steel materials, balancing practicality and adaptability. It is the preferred load-bearing component under complex working conditions.

 Core Structure and Customization Types

(I) Core Structure Composition

  1. Main Grating: Welded with Q235 carbon steel or 304/316 stainless steel flat bars (plain/serrated optional) and twisted square bars, or formed by interlocking flat bars to ensure load-bearing performance;

  2. Special-Shaped Processing: Through precise cutting, bending, splicing, edge banding and other processes, it is made into non-standard shapes that meet on-site needs;

  3. Auxiliary Structure: According to requirements, frames, reinforcing ribs and mounting lugs can be welded, or equipment holes and notches can be reserved to improve installation convenience and structural stability;

  4. Surface Treatment: Overall hot-dip galvanizing (mainstream), electro-galvanizing, spray painting or natural stainless steel finish to ensure corrosion resistance and durability.

(II) Common Customization Types (Special-Shaped Styles)

  • Circular/Arc Steel Grating: Suitable for circular equipment bases, arc walkways, circular trench covers and arc stair treads, with any diameter and arc customizable;

  • Triangular/Trapezoidal Steel Grating: Used for inclined platforms, special-shaped roof walkways and irregular areas around equipment, fitting inclined surfaces and corner installations;

  • Corner-Cut/Hole-Opening Steel Grating: On the basis of rectangles/squares, corner cutting and circular/square holes are reserved according to equipment and pipeline layout, suitable for installation around pipelines and columns;

  • Combined Special-Shaped Steel Grating: Multiple steel gratings of different shapes are spliced to adapt to large-area irregular areas (such as special-shaped platforms and complex trenches), with tight overall paving;

  • Bent Special-Shaped Steel Grating: Made into L-shape, U-shape and Z-shape through cold bending, suitable for stair corners, platform edges, equipment enclosures and other scenarios.

Production Process

  1. Demand Surveying and Mapping: According to the dimension drawings and on-site real scenes provided by customers, accurately calculate the special-shaped dimensions, arc, hole position and load-bearing requirements;

  2. Raw Material Processing: Cutting and bending of flat bars, twisted square bars (or frame materials) to ensure dimensional accuracy (error ≤ ±1mm);

  3. Main Body Forming: High-pressure resistance welding (welded type) or interlocking (interlocked type) process is used to connect flat bars and cross bars into shape, and special-shaped parts are accurately spliced;

  4. Special-Shaped Processing: Secondary cutting, polishing and edge banding are performed on the spliced grating, and holes and mounting lugs are reserved to ensure smooth edges without burrs;

  5. Corrosion Protection Treatment: Overall hot-dip galvanizing (zinc layer thickness ≥ 85μm), spray painting or stainless steel polishing to improve corrosion resistance;

  6. Finished Product Inspection: Check the dimensions, arc and load-bearing performance to ensure they meet the customer's customization requirements before leaving the factory.

Materials and Common Specifications

(I) Core Materials

  • Carbon Steel Q235: Cost-effective, with hot-dip galvanizing surface treatment, suitable for conventional outdoor, workshop, municipal and other scenarios;

  • Stainless Steel 304/316: Acid and alkali resistant, corrosion resistant, suitable for chemical, wastewater treatment, coastal high-corrosion environments;

  • Flat Bar Type: Plain flat bar (general purpose), serrated flat bar (anti-slip type, suitable for wet and oily scenarios).

(II) Common Specifications (Customizable)

  • Flat Bar Height: 25mm, 30mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm;

  • Flat Bar Thickness: 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm;

  • Mesh Specification: 30×100mm, 40×100mm, 50×50mm (adjustable on demand);

  • Special-Shaped Dimensions: No fixed standard, customized according to customer drawings or on-site surveying and mapping (maximum single piece size can be customized to 3m×6m);

  • Frame Material: ∠40×4, ∠50×5 angle steel or thickened flat bar (optional, to improve stability).

  • Industrial Field: Special-shaped equipment platforms, walkways around pipelines, and arc maintenance channels in chemical plants, power plants and wastewater treatment plants;

Installation and Maintenance

(I) Installation Methods

  • Welding Fixation: Weld the steel grating frame or mounting lugs to the base and steel beam, which is firm and anti-theft, suitable for permanent installation scenarios;

  • Installation Clip Fixation: Use special steel grating installation clips, which are detachable and do not damage the zinc layer, facilitating later maintenance and replacement;

  • Inlay Fixation: Framed special-shaped steel grating can be directly clamped into the pre-embedded card slot, with convenient paving, suitable for trench covers and equipment covers.

(II) Maintenance Instructions

  1. Regularly clean up debris and oil on the grating surface to avoid blocking the mesh and affecting drainage and ventilation;

  2. Check whether the welding parts and installation clips are loose, and reinforce them in time if problems are found;

  3. If the surface zinc layer is damaged, touch up with anti-rust paint in time to extend the service life;

  4. Avoid contact of stainless steel materials with strong acids and alkalis, and regular wiping and maintenance are sufficient.
